Free Kit for New Parents
A ‘Kit for New Parents’ is available from the California Children and Families Commission. The statewide project offers guidance to new and expecting parents available in English, Spanish, Cantonese, Mandarin, Korean and Vietnamese.
Kits are available to both individuals and agencies and contain: guides with advice for new parent, covering a variety of questions relating to children prenatal through age five; a CD covering various topics; brochures; and a book for the new baby.
Helpful information includes answers to questions such as:
–Why does my baby cry?
–How much food should I give my baby?
–How do I childproof my home?
–Why should I set limits for my child ?
–What should I look for in child care?
–How much television should my child watch?
A supply of free Kits are available to provider partners (agencies who work with expectant or new parents). Partners are asked to provide education relating to the contents and attend occasional information meetings held to assist with Kit distribution and usage.
